Shugufta Anwar

Trustee

My name is Shugufta Anwar. I continue my 25 years career in the community as a Childcare Professional. The key to my success is the ongoing engagement; building and sustaining relation with the parents; children and other professionals I serve, Meeting and engaging with people are integral and wonderful part of my role. I still do and have, either worked in the background or in the frontline, been involved; participated and supported, various charity events to celebrate something or to merely raise funds for their cause. My passion and committed for the Community are demonstrated by providing meals and clothing etc whenever there has been an emergency incident within the community. I am heavily involved with the Big Iftar, organising; preparing and providing meals and on the day ensuring all attendees are catered and looked after. I regularly coordinate and arrange an Afternoon Tea for the vulnerable within our community as well as prepare meals for those less fortunate. During the Covid period I was concerned about our isolated and susceptible members of our community and prepared and delivered hot meals to their homes. Outside of my community, I am a member as well as a huge supporter and contributor to Somerset Gardens Volunteers. A small charity that provides a drop-in facility every Tuesday going onto 20 years, activities, advice and guidance, therapy treatments, indoor and outdoor events and trips for those affected with cancer and their carers. Any form of giving back to the community gives me a sense of pride to know I am helping those in need with care; compassion ,dignity and kindness.
