Supporting the Elderly and Vulnerable

We do an extensive amount of work with the elderly and vulnerable. This includes all the victims work but we also run events to provide them with and Information, Advice and Guidance on a diversity of issues.

We run personal safety sessions for the elderly and for those who work or care for them. These include sessions on doorstep crime, fraud and scams. 

We work in partnership with many organisation’s to support the elderly. An example of this is the Fire Service who can undertake a 'free' Home Safety Check, which will include the fitting of a 'free' smoke alarm and, if required, a 'free' carbon monoxide detector,

Health & Well-Being Clubs for the Caribbean Community

We co-ordinate the health and well-being clubs for the Caribbean community, ensuring that they have personal and social interactions to reduce social isolation and get healthy meals.  At the weekly sessions we provide exercise and fitness classes and a range of activities. We also have speakers come in to tell them about subjects and matters pertinent to their needs and circumstances. This can include benefits advice pension advice, information on heath related matters like diabetes, stroke or hypertension.  We work with other health and well-being clubs coordinating other services like the South Asian community to have joint events and bring community groups together.

Well-Being Activities

We run a range of activities which include mindfulness and art therapy sessions as well as crafts activities. Members can make memory books and take part in storytelling.

The exercise and fitness classes for the elderly can be delivered to those with disabilities and those recovering from medical illness. The programmes are bespoke and take into consideration each person’s medical conditions. These include regular health checks.

We have a loneliness project that supports older people living alone and finding it difficult to cope.
